Les Mariannes d'aujourd'hui
Marianne is the French national personification. (which basically means the anthropomorphization of a nation based on national stereotypes for propaganda.)
(it's not all bad)
(Like Uncle Sam)
Eugene Delacroix famously depicted her in La liberté guidant le peuple as a robust white lady with huge (bare) breasts.
But
Some genius at L'Assemblée Nationale thought that maybe it was archaic and perhaps a bit degrading to have a bare-breasted woman with pasty skin dressed in a robe provide the face for the most diverse nation in Western Europe (60% of Europe's Muslim population, and 32% of Europe's West African Population)
So, the genius commissioned another genius to take these photos, which were displayed for Bastille Day.
