Julia Galdo // S Magazine

S Magazine recently published a series of in-fucking-credible photos by in-fucking-credible photographer Julia Galdo.

The series is shot in she Santa Monica hills, and accentuates old and young in a quiet way.

awesome.

Obviously, our opinions are diverging on this. These pictures really bother me (I normally love the pictures you post on your site). There are two things I think off the top of my head seeing these pictures: 1. The old rich man has complete access to a beautiful young woman, yet again. OR, 2. Too much money= boredom, so let's play interesting. Either way, I find them really unsettling (in a very inartistic way).
Sorry. I felt compelled to say something.

no, I'm glad you said it!
that's a lot to think about.
I think you're right about the rich, old (white) man/beautiful young woman stereotype.
I also think that the photographer was trying to heighten the contrast between two people that are on very separate points in the "arc of life".

I think you're right that they did end up getting trapped in that "typical" kind of photoshoot energy that seems to say "act bored and beautiful". You're right that there's no charisma, BUT I think the images are incredible.
